The Town of Atoka released its proposed budget for the fiscal year 2017 on Thursday, June 16. The $9.7 million dollar budget maintains the Town's current, lowest-in-the-region municipal property tax rate while investing heavily in infrastructure and public safety. The Town's fiscal year 2017 begins on July 1, 2016.
The Town of Atoka's proposed 2017 Town budget continues an ongoing commitment to public safety, improved infrastructure and public services that continue to make Atoka a great place to call home. The budget funds regular operations of the Town - including Police, Fire, Parks, Code Enforcement and Public Works - while also allocating funds for capital expenditures including the Atoka Greenway Trail project - Phase I, intersection improvements at Atoka-Idaville and Rosemark Roads, new vehicles for the Police, Parks and Public Works Departments and the replacement of a bridge on Meade Lake Road.
The Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved the FY2017 budget on first consideration at their regular meeting on June 14, 2016. A public hearing and final consideration will be held on June 28, 2016 beginning at 6:45 pm.
